Four In The Fire
Before there were "Christians" there were faithful followers of YHWH, the One True God.
In the book of Daniel we encounter a king who demands a certain kind of worship and three men who demand a certain kind of freedom.
These three men simply refused to give in to the king's demands. I love what they had to say. I'll paraphrase - "The Lord is able to save us from your fire, BUT EVEN IF HE DOESN'T, we will not bow down."
The king throws them into the fire to die. Faith unto death.
But, the king notices something strange, and asks if they did, in fact, throw three into the fire. They did, but he sees four. Four where there were three. The men are brought out and there is no damage to their clothes or their bodies. They don't even smell of smoke.
I believe that the fourth man in the fire was Jesus, but some say it was an angel. Either way, God the Father was present with those men then, and continues to be present with believers today.
