Love Is Not A Victory March

Posted by Seth Tummins on

Leonard Cohen wrote many, many verses for his song, “Hallelujah.”  Most we never hear, but he spent years working on that song, only to have it … flop.  His original version wasn’t good.  It took the death of Jeff Buckley to put the song in the public’s consciousness.  The rest is history.  While I understand it isn’t a “Christian” song, Christians have a way of seeing Christ everywhere.   Every verse of the most-played version is a little work of art, but the powerful imagery conjured by the line,   “Love is not a victory march.  It’s a cold and...

A Letter to Christians

There is no problem that Christianity is not capable of handling.  It is only those who will not humble themselves that prevent grace from overflowing.  Jesus is not on your team.  He is the Ancient of Days, the Way, the Truth, the Life, the Holy Immortal, and the one with eyes like flames.  Do not presume that your trifling political rants gain His favor.  Do not reduce Him to a snarky meme.  The mind is a battlefield in the war for your soul and the only weapon you possess is repentance.  Serve the ones you want to win.

TELL THE TRUTH

Posted by Seth Tummins on

Jesus calls humanity to humility.  He upsets the apple cart by trying to set the apple cart upright.

We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
