When we lose someone we love, someone who has provided for us, protected us, and has taught us, the pain of separation can be intense. In the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, we meet a lion named Aslan. He is the king of Narnia and a kind protector, a guide, a leader - he is everything that is needed and more than we normally hope for.
Spoiler Alert (just kidding. If you are reading this I'm sure you know the story...)
When a death sentence was pronounced for one he loved, He offered to take the sentence himself so that the offender could go free.
Not only this, but the person overseeing the sentence of death was a wicked person, and this wicked person accepted Aslan as a sacrifice and killed him.
Mourning and grief and tears were everywhere. The most noble and good among them was killed by the wicked and selfish. The magic was gone, and Narnia was left alone. The bad guys had won.
Then the impossible happened.
What was meant for ill was made into medicine. What was done in selfishness was covered in grace. What once was lost was found again. Where there was a corpse, there was now a vibrant life! The enemy knew the law called for a sacrifice, but they did not know the whole story.
There was deeper magic, and a savior.
The back of the shirt features two prints from a lion's paw. He lives!
